At the IIUSA EB-5 Conference on Oct 29 2019. Charlie Oppenheim, Cheif of Visa numbers at the Department of State has forecasted that Indian waiting time has reduced to 6.7 years for an Indian petitioner applying today.
This is significant news for the Indian EB-5 community. Charlie had predicted 8.4 years in May 2019 and the general expectation was it would have grown to 10 years, but Charlie’s 6.7 years waiting time is welcome news for Indian born petitioners. Charlie also mentioned that 6.7 years is the worst case scenario, so the waiting time might be shorter in reality.
Charlie also mentioned that India might become current in September 2020 for a short time, this is significant for Indians waiting with an approved 526 or will be approved in the next 12 months.
EB2 wait times: Charlie talked about EB2 and EB3 waiting times. He said the waiting time is atleast 70 years for Indians in this category for people who have applied in January 2011. The Visa bulletin moved only 1 day in the last quarter.
If you are on the fence about the EB-5 visa, this is the best time to invest before the investment limit goes upto $900,000 from November 21 2019. Contact us for more info on the process.
