There has been an avalanche of data released by the USCIS & IIUSA in the past two months, particularly at the 2018 AILA & IIUSA EB5 Industry Forum held in Chicago on Oct 29 & 30 2018. Along with Mr. Charles Oppenheim, Chief, Immigrant Visa Control & Reporting, U.S. Dept. of State, IIUSA members presented the clearest picture of the USCIS & DOS numbers regarding EB5 till date.
A few important takeaways from the Conference:
- Indian EB-5 applicants will hit retrogression by July 2019.
- Around 1200 Indians have applied for the EB-5 Visa in FY 2019 (Oct 1 2017 to Sep 30 2018).
- The current estimated wait time to become current for an EB-5 Visa for Indians applying now is 5.7 years, Vietnam – 7.2 years, China – 14 years.
- The overall worldwide EB-5 investment petitions for FY18 is lower compared to Fy17.
